meet your instructor

My name is Tara Wilson! I am a Jesus-loving mama of three, and I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to serve Cape Coral and the surrounding communities as a Certified ISR Instructor. Like all ISR Instructors, my passion and mission are to help make ISR's vision a reality: "NOT ONE MORE CHILD DROWNS."

Originally from Buffalo, New York, I have called Florida home for most of my life. My husband and I have been married since 2003, and we are blessed with three amazing children. In addition to being a Certified ISR Instructor and CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, I hold a B.A. in Commercial Design. These days, much of my time is joyfully devoted to homeschooling our three children.

I first discovered ISR when my oldest son was just over a year old. He was an energetic, adventurous little boy who had absolutely no fear of the water! As a proactive mama, I was determined to find a swim program that would equip him with independent skills and provide a strong foundation for becoming a confident swimmer.

At the time, I had no idea what Self-Rescue® swimming skills were. But the moment I discovered ISR and explored its website, I knew I had found the program I was looking for!

Over the years, all three of my children have become ISR graduates, and they absolutely love the water. My two oldest even went on to swim competitively for many years! Having experienced the program firsthand as both a parent and an instructor, I have researched numerous swim programs and can honestly say that I have not encountered another program with ISR's unique approach to water safety, extensive experience, and rigorous instructor training and certification process.

ISR has had a tremendous impact on my family, and I feel incredibly blessed to now share this life-changing program with other families. In the summer of 2017, I decided to take the next step and begin my journey toward becoming a Certified ISR Instructor!

Becoming a confident aquatic problem solver takes time, patience, and dedication. My hope is that your family will have the opportunity to experience the same incredible benefits of ISR that mine has.

ISR Instructors undergo extensive training before becoming certified and are required to recertify annually. Our education and training are ongoing, covering areas such as child psychology, physiological behaviorism and development, early childhood education, anatomy, and physics. This continued education helps us better understand each child as an individual and tailor our instruction to their unique needs.

Our children are among our greatest blessings, and as parents, we have the responsibility to be proactive and diligent in protecting them. I am passionate about helping families take an important step toward water safety by equipping their little ones with essential swimming and Self-Rescue® skills.
